Her first official job. She was pretty excited to say the least. She'd practically skipped all the way to her destination. No adult supervision. No looming overprotective Daddy hovering over her shoulders at all times. As much as she loved her father, she was growing more and more each day. She was old enough to do things on her own and not muck it up. This was her day. [break][break]

Today she would become a woman. [break][break]

....Okay, maybe not. But she was excited anyway. With her head held high and her chest puffed out she was ready to get to work. So the job was posted by the League, but she figured earning a few extra bucks on the side wouldn't be anything Rocket would penalize her over. Everyone needed a side hustle right?[break][break]

Her pikachu, Wattson, ran along her feet as she reached the pond. So far so good. She didn't see any devious looking thief yet. But perhaps she'd scare it away by being on patrol here out in the open. "Alright Wattson, let's find a good hiding spot and then catch us a thief red handed!" she said with a huge gin. "Piiika!" Wattson echoed with a bounce. [break][break]

Looking around she pointed at a nearby tree. They could climb it and have a good vantage point over the area. This thief wouldn't know what hit 'em. As soon as they popped up...BAM... she'd drop down on them and Wattson would give them a good shock. Together their little wombo-combo would nail them a fat check from the league.

"Baraqiel be mindful not to kill all the fish! The goal is to find the culprit not fry some lunch," the brunet scolded the Jolteon who was vibrating with electricity crackling off it's fine yellow fur. Naturally it always got excited like this, ever since it was an eevee. It made the pokemon almost useless on the job because of it's proclivity to breaking things. However he had to say this pokemon was very resilient after all the abuses it had taken with him since it was but a small eevee. Misha often kept him as a companion and it knew how to keep it's mouth shut. Even with his pokemon that played mind games Baraqiel was a survivor just like Misha, doing whatever it took even if meant biting a friend.

"perhaps we should fish for a magikarp first and lure it out yah?" he asked the electric pokemon as it sat down relaxing. Misha making a make shift fishing rod as he waited for fish to nibble. "Aren't you curious about what Perish Song is Baraqiel?" he asked quietly staring off into the still waters, seeing something reflecting. "Hello little mankey girl,"

Both Wattson and Raelynn laid low on the branches as they saw their prey approach. Like a lion hunting in its pride lands, they remained quiet and alert as the trainer and his Jolteon approached. She didn't expect it to be someone like this but money was money she supposed. Communicating to Wattson with just a look she nodded as they prepared to descend on their unknowing target. [break][break]

"Hello little mankey girl," came the mans voice just as Raelynn was about to leap out of the tree. "W-woah!" she said as she stumbled forward, unable to stabilize on the branch, she fell, not on the man but beside him. She hit the thud, landing hard on her back, to the point it knocked the wind from her. [break][break]

Her eyes began to well up with tears as she gasped and rolled on her side. Wattson on the other hand, quickly leaped down to check on her, gently nuzzling her as she rolled around. After a moment of holding in her tears and dealing with the pain, the stinging, throbbing, pain in her back subsided and she was able to finally breathe again. [break][break]

After another moment, she managed to gather the strength to get up and dust herself off. Pointing an accusatory finger at him she frowned. "Hands up thief, I caught you red handed." she said as she placed her arms on her hips. "And I'm not a mankey!" she said with a frown as she stared at the older man.

It was clear the girl was young, almost stupidly innocent and naïve. The fact she didn't have a pokemon that could have broken her fall meant she was still learning, or at least didn't have a pokemon that could save her. Though the moment the wind escaped her lungs he smiled enjoying the memory of how his circus training went over the years of his youth. "You should learn how to roll when you fall, or pick a pokemon that will actually save you little mankey,". Little Mankey was what he'd stick to calling her because she is careless and climbs around, but he likes monkeys their cute, so she gets a pass.

Was he the culprit? No. He had no desire to obstruct such a small pond. If he did he'd have to have a reason to do it. Perhaps to test someone's morals or just kick someone while their down. This girl, wasn't one but he debated for a moment wondering if he should take this girls innocence and show her how terrible the world could be. Then again the culprit was most likely watching them. "You know....the louder you are the less likely your thief will show up." he shrugged, "They like magikarp so the easiest thing to do is capture the pokemon and use it as bait chances are....it's another pokemon that likes fish don't you agree? Or would you rather me cook it for you Mankey Girl?"

"I said--" she began to protest but the guy wasn't listening to her. "You know....the louder you are the less likely your thief will show up."[break][break]

Rae's mouth opened to reply before closing because he had a point. But he could be trying to trick her. Her eyes narrowed at him, she didn't trust him. After all who calls someone they just met a mankey? Rude. Still she'd keep an eye on him. "They like magikarp so the easiest thing to do is capture the pokémon and use it as bait chances are....it's another pokémon that likes fish don't you agree? Or would you rather me cook it for you Mankey Girl?"[break][break]

"What's wrong with you?" she asked as her face scrunched up in disgust. "And what's to say the real thief won't run away as soon as they see people here?" That was if the thief was a person. But if the thief was a pokémon he had a point. "Catch a magikarp first and then we should hide." after all, they still had a lot they didn't know. She crossed her arms over her chest as she defiantly stared at the lake. She didn't like being told what to do by a stranger but even more so, she didn't like being wrong.
